How to use Blomo Wallet
Setting up Blomo Wallet takes five steps: create or import a wallet, set a passcode, back up the recovery phrase, fund it and send, and optionally connect it to a Blomo card.

Setting up Blomo Wallet
- Create or import a wallet Blomo Wallet can be created fresh, generating a new private key on the device, or set up by importing an existing wallet.
- Set a passcode The passcode encrypts the wallet's private key on the device — before the key goes anywhere.
- Back up the recovery phrase A recovery phrase is shown once at creation and must be backed up; losing the passcode without it means losing the key, and Blomo cannot restore it.
- Fund and send Once funded, the wallet holds the network's native coin for gas alongside any assets sent to it, and transactions are signed on the device before the server sees them.
- Optionally connect to a card Connecting to a Blomo card turns on co-control: the key is split into two shares, and card spending can then be debited straight from the wallet under the policy set in advance.
Create or import a wallet
Blomo Wallet can be created fresh, which generates a new private key on the device, or set up by importing an existing wallet instead.
Either way, the resulting wallet is non-custodial: the key is Blomo Wallet's own, not shared with the Blomo balance used for card spending by default.
Set a passcode
The passcode turns into an encryption key on the device, and the wallet's private key is encrypted with it before the key goes anywhere.
Blomo stores only the encrypted key. The second piece needed to decrypt it is held by a separate service and released only to a signed-in user, a limited number of times.
Back up the recovery phrase
A recovery phrase is shown when the wallet is created and must be backed up before relying on the wallet.
Losing the passcode without the recovery phrase means losing the key, and Blomo cannot restore it — the server's inability to open the encrypted envelope on its own is exactly what keeps the key private, and exactly why Blomo cannot bail the user out.
Fund the wallet and send
Once funded, Blomo Wallet holds whatever coins or stablecoins were sent to it, plus the native coin of each relevant network for gas.
Every outgoing transaction is decrypted and signed on the device; the server only ever receives an already-signed transaction.
Optionally connect to a card
Connecting Blomo Wallet to a Blomo card turns on co-control, which is opt-in. Without it, Blomo can never move funds from the wallet.
Under co-control the key is split into two shares, one held by the user and one by Blomo, and signing uses a threshold protocol within a policy the user sets in advance: a spending limit, allowed recipients, and a stop switch, enforced by the signer service.
Once connected, card spending can be debited directly from the wallet instead of from the Blomo balance.

FAQ
Questions people actually ask
How many steps are there to set up Blomo Wallet?
Five: create or import a wallet, set a passcode, back up the recovery phrase, fund and send, and optionally connect it to a card.
Should a wallet be created or imported?
Either is possible. Creating one generates a new private key on the device; importing brings an existing wallet's key into Blomo instead.
What does the passcode actually protect?
The passcode encrypts the wallet's private key on the device, before Blomo ever stores it. Without the passcode the stored copy is useless.
When is the recovery phrase shown?
Once, when the wallet is created. It must be backed up at that point.
What happens if the passcode is lost but the phrase is backed up?
The recovery phrase can be used to restore the key. Without the phrase, the key is lost and Blomo cannot restore it.
What is needed to send a transaction?
The relevant asset plus the native coin of its network to pay the fee — for example ETH for an Ethereum transaction.
Is connecting to a card required?
No, it is opt-in. Without it, Blomo can never move funds from the wallet.
What happens after a wallet is connected to a card?
Co-control turns on: the key is split into two shares, and card spending can then be debited directly from the wallet under a policy set in advance.
Who sets the spending policy under co-control?
The user sets the spending limit, allowed recipients and stop switch in advance, and the signer service enforces them.
