What happens when your Blomo card expires

Blomo cards run 48 months, and 36 on the Estonia card. The date ends the card, not the balance — and Blomo neither reissues nor reminds.

The card stops working and nothing happens to your money. A Blomo card is valid for a fixed term — 48 months on the Netherlands, Spain, Poland, United Kingdom and Indonesia cards, and 36 months on the Estonia card (fees) — and when the printed date passes, the number, the expiry and the CVV stop being accepted, exactly as they would on any other card. Your balance is not on the card. It sits on your Blomo account as a ledger balance, the card is only a way to spend it, and an expired card takes none of it with it. What Blomo does not do is the part worth knowing in advance: there is no automatic reissue, no renewal, and no reminder before the date. A working card after that day is a card you order yourself, and ordering one holds your whole available balance until it is activated.

This article says plainly which parts of that are built and which are not, because a guessed procedure is worse than a missing one.

How long each card lasts

The term is a property of the product, not of your account, and it is published per card.

Card Validity
Netherlands · Visa · EUR 48 months
Spain · Visa · EUR 48 months
Poland · Mastercard · PLN 48 months
United Kingdom · Visa · GBP 48 months
Indonesia · Mastercard · IDR 48 months
Estonia · Visa · EUR 36 months

Terms from the Blomo fees page, which is the live source and the same catalogue the app reads. Five of the six cards run 48 months; the Estonia card, the online-only one with the lowest entry threshold, runs 36.

The date that actually decides is the one printed on your card. It is shown in the app next to the number, labelled Valid thru, and a card is good until the last day of the month it names. The term in the table above is what the product promises; the line in the app is what a merchant will check. If you want to know when your own card ends, read it there rather than counting months from the day you ordered.

What Blomo does not do about expiry

This is the honest part, and none of it is a policy decision hiding behind a form.

Blomo does not reissue a card automatically. There is no renewal step in the system. A card request ends in the state active and that state is final — nothing follows it, and nothing spawns a successor request. Replacing an expiring card means placing a new order, the same way you placed the first.

Blomo does not warn you that the date is coming. No scheduled job looks at card expiry dates, so there is no email, no message in Telegram and no banner in the app as the month approaches. The reminder has to be yours: put the Valid thru month in your own calendar.

Blomo has no “expired” state for a card. The request that produced the card stays marked active after the date passes, and the card keeps appearing on the cards screen. The app is not lying to you on purpose — it simply does not track the date. Treat the Valid thru line as authoritative and the card tile as decoration once that month is gone.

We would rather write that down than invent a procedure. When automatic reissue exists, this article will say so and its modification date will change.

Your balance is untouched, because the balance was never on the card

Blomo keeps one balance per account, denominated in USDT whatever currency your cards are issued in, and the app reports it as three numbers: available, held and total. Cards are not separate wallets — two cards on one account draw on the same balance, and an expired card removes nothing from it.

So the day after expiry your money is exactly where it was. What you have lost is the way to spend it, not the amount.

Three things you can do with it:

  • Spend it down before the date. The simplest option, and the only one with no fee beyond the card’s own transaction fee — 0.5% to 1.5% depending on the card (fees).
  • Order a new card and keep spending. Covered below, including the part that catches people out.
  • Have it paid out. Blomo has no payout button in the app: a withdrawal is arranged by hand through support, and it costs 3% plus the network fee. Blomo does not publish a minimum, a timeframe or a list of networks for it, so ask support what applies before you plan around it.

Subscriptions on the expiring card need moving first

A stored card does not survive its own expiry date. The merchant keeps charging on schedule, the charge is declined because the details are dead, and from the merchant’s side it looks like any other failed renewal — retries on its own timetable, then cancellation after however many attempts its billing rules allow. Blomo neither sets that timetable nor can see it.

Move the payment method before the term ends rather than after the first decline. Which subscriptions break, why a retry can arrive when your balance looks fine, and how much headroom a renewal actually needs are worked through in can a subscription run on a Blomo prepaid card.

There is a trap in the order of operations, and it is the next section.

Getting a replacement card

You order it like the first one, and two facts decide when you should.

The first virtual card on an account is free; every card after that costs 10 USDT (fees). A replacement is a card after the first, so it carries that fee. Nothing is deducted when you place the order — the issue fee applies at issue, not at order.

From the moment you order until that card is activated, your whole available balance is held and cannot be spent. Not the entry threshold — everything you had on the balance in the second you pressed the button. A subscription, a purchase, anything: there is nothing to draw on until the new card goes live. The hold is released on activation, and also if an operator declines the request; it is released in full, with no deduction.

Two details change how you should time it:

  • The hold is a snapshot. A top-up that arrives after you place the order is not held and stays spendable. That is the escape hatch when the timing is not yours to choose.
  • You cannot cancel your own order. Blomo removed that action deliberately rather than hiding the button, so once the order is in, only activation or an operator’s decision releases the money.

The practical rule: order the replacement in a gap between your renewal dates, not the week one is due — and if you cannot pick the moment, top up after placing the order so the merchant has something to charge. The full mechanics of the hold, including what happens when an issue attempt fails, are in ordering a second card holds your balance.

One thing that does not get in the way: an old card, expired or not, does not block a new order. Only an order still being worked on does, and Blomo allows one of those at a time.

Questions people actually ask

How long is a Blomo card valid?

48 months on the Netherlands, Spain, Poland, United Kingdom and Indonesia cards, and 36 months on the Estonia card. The date printed on your own card, shown in the app as Valid thru, is the one merchants check, and the card works until the last day of that month.

Does Blomo renew or reissue a card automatically?

No. There is no renewal step and no automatic reissue: a card request ends in the active state and nothing follows it. To keep paying after the term you place a new order yourself.

Will Blomo remind me before my card expires?

No. Nothing in the system watches card expiry dates, so there is no email, message or banner as the month approaches. Put the Valid thru month in your own calendar.

What happens to my balance when the card expires?

Nothing. The balance belongs to the account, not to the card, and it stays available in full — an expired card only removes the way to spend it. Two cards on one account share the same balance.

What happens to subscriptions on a card that expires?

They fail like any other declined renewal, and the merchant applies its own retry and cancellation rules. Move them to another payment method before the term ends rather than after the first decline.

Can I get my money out instead of ordering another card?

Yes, but not with a button. A withdrawal is arranged by hand through Blomo support and costs 3% plus the network fee; Blomo publishes no minimum, timeframe or network list for it, so ask support before counting on one.

What does a replacement card cost?

10 USDT, because the free card is the first one on the account. The fee applies at issue rather than at order, and the new card’s own entry threshold — from 100 USDT on the Estonia card to 1,000 USDT on the Netherlands card — has to be on the balance when you order.
